How common is premature ejaculation

How Many Guys Have Premature Ejaculation?

As you’ll now see, sexual problems are actually quite common. Although few of us are ever ready to admit it. Especially when it comes to premature ejaculation.

According to Edward Laumann, the author of a comprehensive U.S. sex study, 31% of men and 43% of women have some kind of sexual problem or dysfunction.

This study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. It was based on data from the 1992 National Health and Social Life Survey – which was a huge collection of interviews with both men and women.

In total, 1,749 women and 1,410 men aged 18 to 59 participated. And the conclusion is the following.

  • 30% of men said they regularly come too quickly
  • 14% said they had no interest in sex
  • 8% said they regularly experienced no pleasure from sex

No one can tell the exact number of men who suffer from premature ejaculation, but everybody agrees that PE is the most common sexual problem men around the world experience.

Urologists Andrew McCullough, M.D., of the New York University school of medicine, and his colleague James Barada, M.D., of the Albany College of Medicine, say PE is three times more common than erectile dysfunction (ED), that is impotence.
While estimates vary from 5% to even 75%, most studies report that 20% to 30% of men ejaculate too quickly on a regular basis.

The reason why different studies report different numbers is the lack of universally accepted definition of what PE actually is. On top of that different, studies are conducted in a different way.

For example some are done with stopwatch, measuring exactly how long man can go. Some are self-reported and based on man’s own feeling of the level of control he has over his ejaculation. And some simply determine if he is happy with his sexual stamina, or if he wants to last longer.

Anyways, it’s safe to say that 30 million American men, and about 600 million men worldwide suffer from PE. In other words, one of every five men you know has the same problem as you.

As you can see, you’re far from alone.

PE also strikes men of all ages.

Previously we believed it was more common among younger men, when sex is still relatively new to them. Now we now better.

Recent studies report that middle-aged men still have this problem. And, in fact men of all age groups are equally at risk.

Another interesting thing is that some studies reported racial differences when it comes to PE.

Here are some of them:

One recent telephone survey, which included 1,320 American men, revealed that premature ejaculation is affecting:

  • 21% of non-Hispanic African Americans
  • 29% of Hispanics
  • 16% of non-Hispanic Whites

Also a study done by National Health and Social Life Survey reported that premature ejaculation affected:

  • 34% African American men
  • 29% White men
  • 27% Hispanic men

Some other studies reported that PE is more common in East Asia (countries like China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia), than in Middle East and Africa (Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Turkey).

The presence of premature ejaculation in Europe is said to be somewhere between that of East Asia and Middle East / Africa.

Anyways, because of the small number of such studies, and different ways in which they were conducted, it is impossible to draw any final conclusions.

Read this How long should you last in bed . Anafranil is a pretty strong antidepressant, and you shouldn’t use it without first talking to your doctor. And no, unfortunately women don’t have early premature ejaculation :)
